Surgical Technologist, PRN
Work Hours: 10 hr shifts; PRN to cover vacations, sick time, etc
Functions as a proficient member of the surgical team under the supervision and direction of the professional nurses and in accordance with approved policies, procedures and schedules. Responsible for assisting the surgeon during surgical procedures through, planning, organizing, and execution of supplies and instrumentation needed. Fosters effective communication and organizational skills. Demonstrates the ability to apply critical thinking skills. Demonstrates appropriate clinical competencies. Completes training, education, and orientation to new procedures and processes within the department and throughout the organization. Demonstrates ability to interact and communicate with all customers in an effective manner. Delivers age appropriate care within the peri-operative setting.
Education: Graduate of an approved school of surgical technology or displays competency within the scrub technician role after on the job training.
Experience: Minimum 2 years experience in a Surgical Technologist role. Orthopedic experience preferred. Demonstrates ability to work in demanding and stressful situations. Demonstrates knowledge of procedures, physical anatomy, surgical instrumentation, surgical equipment, and patient safety factors as they relate to the scrub role. Demonstrates knowledge of surgical conscience at all times within the surgical setting. Displays a positive attitude toward learning and is self motivated in continuing education.
Licenses/Certification: Certified Surgical Technician preferred. Registry with state required as Surgical Technologist required. Maintenance of current CPR or BLS.
Compensation: $24.95 - $32.43/hr, depending on experience.

PRN staff are not initially eligible for benefits, and GVH follows all Affordable Health Care Act Eligibility guidelines.
