The Physician Assistant Orthopedic Surgical Assistant/Coordinator is responsible for the overall coordination of the gO Orthopedics surgical service line at Gunnison Valley Health. This individual will be the Assistant, advocate, educator and experience guide for the gO orthopedics surgical patients, family members and significant others. This individual will coordinate the patient experience by acting as a point of contact for the patients and their families, physicians, and their office staff, as well as several key hospital departments including surgery, rehabilitation services, nursing, case management, home health and others involved in the care of the patient. Regularly collects data through chart review and computer-generated reports. Analyzes and presents data and reports to health system leadership groups as directed. Monitors selected performance metrics and ensures compliance with all activities required to achieve and maintain an Orthopedic Center of Excellence designation. Coordinator shall also round on inpatients and follow up on outpatient patients through all gO and GVH necessary channels.

Education:  National PA board certification in an aligned specialty with the practice area. BSN required.     

Experience:  Prefer advanced knowledge in the specialty of Orthopedics and Orthopedic assisting, as well as adult education skills. Preferred 3 years’ experience in the acute care orthopedic setting preferred but not necessary. Proficiency in MS office and other computing skills necessary.

Licenses/Certification: Must possess a current Colorado Physician Assistance License. Current BLS, ACLS certifications. Certification in surgical assisting is encouraged.

Compensation: $47.10/hr - $59.67/hr, depending on experience.

Medical, dental, vision, health care FSA, and dependent care FSA: All active employees working 40 or more hours per pay period are eligible for benefits on the first of the month following 30 days of active service.  PRN staff are not initially eligible for benefits, and GVH follows all Affordable Health Care Act Eligibility guidelines.
