Gunnison Valley Health crisis clinician is integral to the wellness and safety of individuals in our community. Their role is to provide care and immediate behavioral health services to clients. Primary function is to assess and triage individuals who present for help with behavioral health issues. The role of the clinician will be to insure continuity of care: an immediate and professional evaluation, collaboration with proper agencies, referral to appropriate type and level of service, and advocacy for any treatment deemed necessary beyond the initial crisis.  The position is expected to answer phone calls for the crisis line during shift, travel to locations within two counties (Gunnison and Hinsdale) for evaluations - including jail settings - have skill at assessing level of risk, maintain boundaries, handle and resolve recurring problems, keep composure and professionalism in any situation, and establish priorities & proceed with objectives while working independently. Crisis clinician will be required to conduct assessments on scene working alongside first responders. Crisis clinician will also be required to be alone on scene, able to determine when to deploy on call peer support specialist for paired response versus when to call first responders back to scene.

Education: Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work or related field.

Experience: Two years’ experience in crisis role or proficient in risk assessment for suicide, homicide and grave disability.

Licenses/Certification:  Colorado state license preferred (Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor, or Licensed Marriage Family Therapy)  Must maintain a valid Colorado Driver's License.  Must be trained in transfer's and First Aid upon hire.

Compensation: $26.80/hr - $33.94/hr, depending on experience.

Medical, dental, vision, health care FSA, and dependent care FSA: All active employees working 40 or more hours per pay period are eligible for benefits on the first of the month following date of hire.  PRN staff are not initially eligible for benefits, and GVH follows all Affordable Health Care Act Eligibility guidelines.
