This position provides customer service to PHI requestors and prepares correspondence for release of medical record information according to established policies and procedures. Assembly and analysis of all medical records to prepare records for coders to code. Scanning and/or filing loose reports and medical records will be a major component of the position. Pulls medical records for audits and committee reviews. Processes medical records before and after physician completion through the deficiency and chart tracking system. Pulls records for the physicians as requested for completion. Answers telephone and directs calls as appropriate. Education: High school education or equivalent required. Some college preferred and/or specialized training in the medical records field. Experience: Excellent communication skills required. One to two years of office experience. Experience with computer and proficient typing skills. Preferred, but not required, knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology and medical records standards.
