The Customer Service Supervisor is responsible for overseeing, providing direction, scheduling team to the Customer Service, South Entrance Reception and Financial Counselors by assigning, directing and reviewing work of all staff. Supervisory duties include training, writing/updating policies and procedures, project management, process improvement and providing coaching and guidance to team. Duties also include resolving escalated customer complaints and disputes and handling difficult customer delinquency and billing issues. Under general supervision, assigns and reviews the work of the team who provide information, research problems, perform collections and credit arrangement activities, by telephone and in person; handles difficult, complex or sensitive customer account problems and delinquency issues; coordinates with team daily activities and variety of tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.

This position communicates with patients, and patient family members to resolve obstacles preventing account resolution and obtain payment.  The Customer Service Supervisor will communicate in a compassionate and professional manner with staff, patients, patient’s family members, physicians, and other hospital staff.

Education:   Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. 

Experience: Three (3) years of increasingly responsible administrative experience, involving customer service, billing and/or collection experience with at least (1) year in a lead or supervisory position. Two (2) years minimum of hospital experience in a Patient Financial Services Department or Registration Department. Knowledge of customer service practices and customer oriented telephone etiquette.  Cash, check and credit card handling techniques.  Principles and practices of effective leadership and employee supervision, including training, hiring and performance evaluation.

Licenses/Certification: Medicaid - Certified for Presumptive eligibility

Compensation: $22.83/hr - $29.68/hr, depending on experience.

Medical, dental, vision, health care FSA, and dependent care FSA: All active employees working 40 or more hours per pay period are eligible for benefits on the first of the month following date of hire.  PRN staff are not initially eligible for benefits, and GVH follows all Affordable Health Care Act Eligibility guidelines.
