Chief Nursing Officer
Work Hours: Mon-Fri, 8a-5pm, Administrative Call required
The CNO directs and supervises professional Nursing and auxiliary personnel rendering patient care services including the departments of E.D., O.B., Pharmacy, Surgery, Case Management, Oncology, Infection Control/Employee Health, Med/Surg, Swing Bed and the contracted Registered Dietician. Plans and conducts interdisciplinary conferences and discussions to encourage participation in formulating departmental and hospital-wide policies, promote initiative, solve problems, and interpret new regulations and standards. Actively partners with physicians to achieve the mission of Gunnison Valley Hospital. Monitors quality of patient care and demonstrates commitment to continuous improvement. Utilizes management and financial reports to achieve budget targets. Actively builds open and constructive relationships promoting integrity among departments and staff members. Participates with Executive Team and Senior Management to assist with strategic planning of hospital operations and future needs. Participates in Administrative Call duties.
Education: Master’s degree is required; may be in MHA, MBA, or similar. If the Master’s degree is not in Nursing, then a Bachelor’s or Doctorate’s must be in nursing.
Experience: Minimum five (5) years professional nursing experience, including satisfactory experience as a nurse in an acute care setting, preferably in a rural environment. Minimum two (2) years management experience.
Licenses/Certification: Current licensure with the Colorado State Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. Current BLS Certification.
