Position Highlights

Gunnison Valley Health and Gunnison Watershed School District are seeking an assistant athletic trainer to assist in the duties of sports medicine under the direction of the athletic trainer.  The Assistant Athletic Trainer will work mostly on-site at Gunnison High School.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide daily athletic training services to student-athletes as directed by the Athletic Trainer
  • Documentation of all injuries, treatments, and return to play progressions
  • Injury prevention management and treatment
  • Develop and utilize injury prevention strategies for student athletes
  • Design and fabricate protective equipment and apply appropriate taping/wrapping to support extremities and prevent further aggravation
  • Assist in the coordination and administration of the substance abuse education program, and the mental health and wellness program.
  • Assist with the operation of the athletic training department

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training, the program must be accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs
  • Two years of experience, experience in secondary school preferred
  • BOC Certification in Athletic Training
  • Experience with concussion management

Compensation: $22.52 - $28.52.00/hr, depending on experience.

Benefits Eligibility

Medical, dental, vision, health care FSA, and dependent care FSA: All active employees working 40 or more hours per pay period are eligible for benefits on the first of the month following date of hire.  PRN staff are not initially eligible for benefits, and GVH follows all Affordable Health Care Act Eligibility guidelines.
